ABOUT PARAN
The PARAN, a registered body of the tribal society, located at Kadambur, is a non-governmental organization working for the tribal community in Kadambur, Thalvadi hills and Sathiyamangalam, Tamil Nadu. Inspired by an apostolic dream, PARAN has been working with Tribal people since 2012, and it has spread across 6 village panchayats and 85 tribal hamlets in Kadambur and Thalavadi hills.
Also, according to the census report of India, 2011, the overall population of the state is 7,21,47,030 of which the tribal community constitutes 1.10 %. About which 37 tribal groups are notified as scheduled tribes in the Government Gazette of India. Urali and Sholagar are the two main tribal groups from Kadambur and Thalavadi hills in Erode district, Tamil Nadu.
PARAN, spurred by its social thrusts and Jesuit Apostolic urgency, reaches out to these tribal communities and other vulnerable communities with the vision of empowering them. And one among them is the Sathiyamangalam forest region, which has more than 120 tribal villages, and its culture signifies equality, freedom and harmony with nature.
A few important areas of concern.
Therefore, having positively appreciated the tribal values and critically analyzed their situation and condition of the people, the Jesuit Chennai Province has made a strong commitment towards these vulnerable communities in promoting their dignity and strengthening their overall development.
